No. 15: The Issue of Heartbreak. The queer experience is complex, diverse, unique, and multifaceted, and we’ve always been careful about walking the line between authentic, informed representation and telling the stories that were ours to tell. But the time came when we realized that our work was to create a safe and inclusive space for other people to tell their stories, too.
Two-time National Poetry Slam winner, Sierra DeMulder (she/her), discusses her books We Slept Here (Button Poetry, 2015), Today Means Amen (Andrews McMeel, 2016), and her forthcoming collection, Ephemera (Button Poetry, 2023). Querencia Press's Autumn 2022 anthology features 115 contributors of Poetry, Fiction, & Non-fiction work. Themes of the collection vary widely and the editor would like to include content warnings for self-harm, addiction, grief, domestic violence, religious trauma, sexual trauma, gender dysphoria and politics, as well as some blood and body horror.

We talk the need for allies to understand that acceptance is a good step but it isn’t progressive enough. Visibility, duality, and celebration are at the forefront of the new generation of Americans and Utahans.
In this episode, we interview Lin Flores. Lin published her first chapbook, Reflections While Living in Utah, in 2020. This work quickly became a local bestseller, making it the most sold book at Utah’s first LBGTQ bookstore—Under The Umbrella.

Local poet and educator L. Flores’ debut poetry chapbook “Reflections While Living in Utah” explores the reconciliation of religious and queer identities. Their collection comes at a poignant moment in light of the recent federal investigation conducted in regards to Brigham Young University’s treatment of LGBTQ+ students.
Lin Flores, the founder of lincpoetry, described how isolating and difficult running a small business in the midst of a pandemic can be. Flores emphasized the importance of in-person contact for businesses, and how that can diminish with the limited contact social media facilitates between entrepreneurs and customers.
